Aston Martin DBS Coupe

Officially launched in August 2007, the DBS is Aston Martin’s new and eagerly anticipated flagship model, replacing the Vanquish which is going out of production. Executives at Aston Martin however are quick to point out that it isn’t a replacement to the Vanquish but is instead a showcase model based on the DB9, leaving open room at the top for a brand new supercar to slot into.

DBS Coupe

The DBS will be the fastest Aston Martin yet, equipped with a 510 bhp modified V12 engine from the DB9 and a lightweight aluminium, magnesium alloy and carbon-fibre construction making it 220 lbs lighter than the DB9. It does 0-60mph in under 4.3 seconds and has a max speed of 191 mph.

The DBS was featured in Casino Royale, Daniel Craig’s first Bond film. From the premises of the incredibly stylish and elegant DB9, the DBS adds edginess, agility and raw power to deliver a supercar which comfortably takes over the mantle of Aston Martin showpiece.

The DBS lists at £160,000 and there are already reports of a 2-year wait in the UK. Design director Marek Reichman calls the DBS a car ‘to-die-for’… I wholly agree.
